During our tour of Flanders and Brussels, we decided to establish base camp here, as it's the city with the best train connections to the rest of Belgium. As such, we looked for a hotel near the Central Station, to allow us easily access to the rail network. Aris Hotel fit the bill, located in the heart of the Belgian capital, just two minutes from the Grote Markt. We organised the trip so that each morning, we could catch a train to visit a different city, returning to Brussels in the afternoon with time to rest a little and take a shower in the hotel before having dinner in the centre. Despite the numerous days of traveling, tiredness, etc, our organisation and the great location of this hotel meant that we could do everything we'd planned, and we didn't have to worry about sleeping every night in a different hotel. We had dinner at a different restaurant every evening, and afterwards we'd go to the Grote Markt where there's always a musical performance at 10pm, with songs and coloured spotlights illuminating the Town Hall, one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. As for the hotel itself, we can say that despite being located in one of the most central, popular areas of Brussels, it can boast a very relaxed atmosphere, with virtually none of the hustle and bustle of the surrounding streets. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and we had no problems during our stay; the service was great. The rate we paid was below the norm for the hotel, as we booked online. It really was a fantastic bargain!

A good enough hotel with heating, a fine bathroom, super clean sheets and a room that just barely passes (47 euros with breakfast). If you have to pay more look at other things. The neighborhood is Arabic but like everything the center of Brussels, a little here a little there, but the rest is full of young women with scarves and people of all colors. I didn't hear any noises at night and felt safe. I came in at 20:00 and went to eat at a nearby bar (alast chicken) and did not die in the attempt (which is not the Bronx in its heyday). The stop is right next Clemenceau.

As the name suggests, this hotel is in the Grand Place, the nerve centre of Brussels, where you can visit the famous City Hall. It's not difficult to find! It belongs to the famous hostel 2G04, which is cheaper and slightly less central. To check in, you must go to the hostel. If you fly to Charleroi (Ryanair), catch the bus to the centre of Brussels; buy tickets in the airport before boarding (13 euros). The bus will take you 40 minutes to the train station Midi-Zuid. Your best option there to get to the hostel is a taxi or a tram. A cab will be about 9 euros. Once you've checked in, it's a 10 minute walk to the hotel. They will give your electronic key, and you can come and go whenever you want. We had a private room with double bed for about 30 euros per night per head. Private bathroom and a lovely room ... unfortunately there was a problem with the electricity, so we moved to a bigger, more beautiful room but it was a twin, rather than a double. Luckily, my girlfriend didn't mind, and we slept huddled together. Anyway ... I really recommend this hotel for its proximity to the Grand Place.
