During our Thailand trip, we really enjoyed the gastronomy and thai cuisine. Pad Thai and Green Curry were our favorite dishes.
We decided to visit a Thai restaurant in Dubai and I recognize that Mekong was a super experience. Food as in Thailand!!
The menu is divided starters & main courses and you can identify flags with countries so you can taste different cuisines.
As an starter, we chose dim sum (China) - normal dim sum. You cannot compare with Hong Kong dim sum and it is expensive for the quality. You can find better dim sum in Dubai with a better price.
Main Course - Pad Thai and Green Curry. Great! As in Thailand, same flavour and you can choose from 2 types of rice. Price-wise between 80-95 AED.
The atmosphere was great. We were outside facing Bur Al Arab; although it was a great view, it was a little chilly and the noise of the cars can be annoying. Chairs are as Tuc-tuc seats! Really nice deco!
Staff were well-educated and with full knowledge of the dishes.
I highly recommend this place if you want to taste Thai food as in Bkk!!
We celebrated our company Christmas Dinner at Traiteur. A nice french restaurant located insied The Park Hyatt Dubai.
The deco of the place is super: live cooking and beautiful decoration. Depends on the location of your table, they will ask you a minimum consumption amount ($$$) per person. Ad example, we asked to have dinner in a beautiful table but they required 500 AED per person! We decided to have dinner in a normal round table.
The set up of the table was nice with welcome bread and fish appetizer. As an starter, I chose burrata with tomato. It was a nice dish mixing the colours and shapes but not really the best burrata of Dubai. You can find at Carrefour a better burrata done by an italian enterperneur in Sharjah. Price of the starter 80 AED.
Between starter and main course, they offer a basil sorbet. Honestly, the best sorbet ever!!! I tried to guess the ingredients: lemon sorbet with basil but something else was inside... It was the best!
As a main course, I had seabass with a walnut sautee spinach and black trumpet coulis. A really well-deco dish and good quality ingredients. As a con, the filet was a dry even with the sauce. Price-wise was expensive 180 AED.
Dishes are not big so I decided to have a dessert, Fondant au chocolat. It was nice and, probably, the best that I have tried in Dubai but you cannot compare with a fondant in France.
The BIG CON of the dinner was: we were 10 people and they forgot the main course of one of us. At the beginning we wait thinking that maybe the dish was a little late but when we asked they informed us that they forgot!!! (maybe that´s why my seabass was dry due to the waiting). The prepared something without asking to accompany the rest but... it was not enough. It was a big mistake that it cannot be justify in so expensive restaurant.
Final notes: it is a luxurious restaurant with a really nice deco but price-quality was really poor. You can find better dishes in other french restaurants.
PD. As it was a company dinner, I didn´t take pics of the food :(
