Matemwe Bungalows is very, very high on my list of favorite hotels in the world. It is a small boutique hotel on the east coast of Zanzibar, consisting of "cottages" that are independent with terrace overlooking a cliff. So I guess this doesn´t seem too impressive, but we're talking about luxury bungalows with 2 floors, with a double bed in each plant (day bed, bed at night). The terrace has a hammock for 2 people and from the cliff you can watch the sunrise while the people in fishing boats go out to sea and the fishermen's wives go to collect seaweed (seems to be sold at a good price in the markets of Tokyo, Japan). Believe me when I tell you to get up early, it´s not too tough to do.
Situated in Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania. No doubt if you have to spend the night in Stone Town This is the hotel you should go to. With stunning ocean views, private beach, pool and delicate decoration with furniture from all over the world and with a hint Arabic.
The Hotel Karafuu is located on one of the fine white sand beaches of Zanzibar. The bungalows are perfectly matched to their environment with spacious rooms and a nice beachfront porch where you can watch some amazing sunsets. The service is very good, although the restaurant has a very limited menu. Being far from the tourist area of Zanzibar is ideal for relaxation after a safari in Kenya and Tanzania.
An amazing hotel in Nungwi, situated on the north of the island. It's in a spectacular setting on the edge of a stunning white sandy beach, with well looked-after, tremendously chic decor that includes modern wallpaper and furniture designed by Philippe Stark. Also, it has an infinity pool, happy hour cocktails by the pool, the wonderful restaurant next to the sea .....
All the rooms have a terrace with views of the ocean. They are big, comfortable and bright. There is a stocked minibar with beer and soft drinks (all for free). It is an all inclusive 5 star hotel and is one of the best hotels on the island. It is surrounded by beautiful beaches with palm trees, vegetation and crystal clear waters.
A half hour from Stone Town, the capital of Zanzibar, is the small town of Bweju, which still lives a traditional African island life, which is very relaxed. The Fountaine Village is a set of bungalows of various styles and prices, starting at 20 U.S.$ per night. It has a beautiful tropical garden and the beach is 100 meters away.
The Paradise Beach Resort in Zanzibar is a fantastic place with wonderful people. It is spectacular with an African style but with European elegance and comfort. Well maintained and very clean. It has a big pool with tropical garden and beach next door. Crystal clear waters perfect for diving and snorkeling. The rooms are decorated in traditional African styles, and are surrounded by tropical vegetation, with views of the Indian Ocean. No doubt a beautiful hotel in a beautiful place.
The hotel that we chose for our days in Stone Town was simple but well located - close to the major attractions that we wanted to visit. We were pleasantly surprised by the attention of the owner, who gave us great tips about what to eat, what to visit, where to go shopping, what to avoid, etc. The rooms are air conditioned, and the beds are large and comfortable. Free wifi.
We came here by chance - we had booked and paid for another hotel, but it was closed for renovations(!) when we arrived. The closest option was the Swahili Beach Resort, which ended up being a good find. It's on the ocean front, with additional services like massages, traditional henna tattoos, tours and diving courses. The rooms have large four poster beds. The restaurant is also good. Free wifi, but the signal comes and goes.
I don't have too much to say about this. The feeling when I first saw the sea in Zanzibar was amazing ... it was just stunning, green blue water, with a perfect temperature. I really recommend that you go. I'm speaking about the hotel beach (Karafuu, in the eastern part of the island); apparently not all the beaches are of the same standard.
We stayed at Hakuna Majiwe in Zanzibar, a place of total relaxation. 20 bungalows on a beautiful white sand beach. Absolute tranquility, surrounded by palm trees and bougainvillea, with a friendly Masai standing guard. The food is good, and the bungalows are well-kept and clean. We met some nice people, and enjoyed a great holiday. We went hiking on trails in the area with local beach boys. A place to try if you like relaxing vacation surrounded by nature.
Just 40 km/1-hour drive from Stone Town on the Northeast Coast, The Shooting Star Lodge is nestled on a headland amidst lush tropical gardens with breathtaking panoramic views across the Indian Ocean.
The hotel is beautifully isolated at the very northern end of Kiwengwa beach well away from other resorts. This is a perfect destination for guests looking for peace, tranquility and relaxation.
Accommodation includes comfortable villas with private pools, cottages with verandas overlooking the ocean, and comfortable lodge rooms with terraces opening onto the garden.
The Eden Village Kendwa Beach is a small resort sold by Italian tour operators Eden Viaggi. Unlike other buildings on the island, this is a hotel that shoots up vertically, overlooking the Indian Ocean. The rooms are small but cozy and comfortable, with a nice bathroom. They are cleaned daily, and every evening one of the employees goes room to room to spray for mosquitoes and lower the mosquito netting. The hotel has a bar and a buffet restaurant overlooking the sea. The food is exquisite, with a wide choice of fresh products. The menu changes daily, offering something for everyone. There are enough beach umbrellas and sunbeds for all the guests, and the entertainment is fun but not OTT, with small shows every night. The real wonder for the natural surroundings: white sand, clear water and sunsets like something from a postcard.
White Sands Hotel And Resort is a 4 star hotel located 25 km north of Dar Es Salam Al Jangwani Beach. The hotel has 88 rooms all with spectacular views. Each room has AC, satellite TV with 10 channels, mini bar and coffee maker. It is ideal for practising many sports such as boat, slow boat, and snorkel.
Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge is in Arusha, Tanzania. This site overlooks the Great Rift Valley and Lake Manyara Soda. Surrounded by spectacular natural environments. The rooms are very well equipped with air conditioning, heating, complete bathroom, and the service is impeccable.
The Kilimanjaro Hotel Kempinski enjoys a prime location near public transportation. It's a hotel that offers a friendly, family atmosphere. Air-conditioned for the comfort of all its clients. It's decorated with some rustic flair that conserves other architectural aspects.
